Sipendekar is an EXPRESS COURIER AND FORWARDING COMPANY based in Indonesia. Mr. Philippus Hendrata Herkata, born in Semarang the Capital City of Central Java Province, Indonesia, founded it officially in June 1964 when he was in the age of thirty-two. Even actually the name and logo of this company already existed in 1962, but it was used for the brand of home-industry products, that were soap and battery.
At the beginning of its business operation, Sipendekar was known only as a night-bus company, buses that took journey at night. The idea was to provide bus transportation for business people and travelers who wanted to have journey at night and arrive in destination city next morning. The first route was only from Semarang to Jakarta vice versa, but then it expanded to reach other cities in Java and then Bali.
In addition to transporting passengers, Sipendekar also accepted to carry and deliver documents, big and small packages that were transported together with the passengers in the night-buses. Sipendekar did this activity as a secondary business as in that time the company focused the business in transporting passengers on the night-buses. |
